OUR VISION

Flavio Van Boekel, Esq. is a distinguished trial attorney with nearly two decades of experience in Law. Based in East Hanover, New Jersey. Mr. Van Boekel is the owner and founder of Van Boekel Law Firm, L.L.C. where he focuses his practice on Immigration Law, Family Law, Criminal Law and Real Estate. Widely respected for both his formidable litigation skills and his superior client service, he has twice been named to the National Trial Association list of  "Top 100 Trial Lawyers"  and Super Lawyers list of "Rising Stars" in 2017, 2018 and honor bestowed upon just 2.5 percent of all attorneys in New Jersey.

As he tells it, Mr. Van Boekel was inspired to pursue a career in law by his time spent serving in the army.

"My mother was a paralegal so I always had some curiosity about Law. But it wasn't until serving in the military that I decided to make a career in it. After leaving the service. I wanted to continue making a difference in people`s lives and believe Law is important because it can change people's lives for the better and you can make significant contributions to society acting as a lawyer".

Following in his mother`s footsteps, Mr. Van Boekel began his law career as a paralegal, a role he served in for over a decade. Wanting to expand his practice, he enrolled at Michigan State College of Law where he earned his Juris Doctor Cum Laude in 2009. While in law school Mr. Van Boekel clerked for the Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm as well as interned for Attorney Grievance Commission, which was responsible for the ethics of attorneys and disciplinary intakes.

Now leading his own Law Firm Mr. Van Boekel's practice primarily focused on helping clients all across New Jersey with a broad range of Immigration and Family matters. Dealing with areas of the law that are complex and often emotionally difficult, he takes extra care to treat each client with the utmost compassion while helping them to navigate the nuances of the legal system. He is also fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, while his law firm`s other members speak languages such as Russian and Latvian, enabling them to represent a diverse clientele.

In addition to his committed representation, Mr. Van Boekel also has a reputation as a fierce and effective litigator who is willing to fight on behalf of his clients both inside and outside the courtroom. Over the course of his career, he has handled numerous divorce trials, domestic violence, restraining orders trials and countless family and immigration's law motions including those to enforce marital settlement agreements, motions to increase or decrease child support as well as child custody battles. As an immigration attorney, he has extensive experience in matters ranging from H 2 B visas, deportation defense, fiance K1 Visa, Adjustment of Status, Green Card based on marriage applications, Asylum and VAWA (Violence Against Women Act).

As a leader in his field, Mr. Van Boekel keeps his finger on the prevailing trends in the areas of practice. In particular, he has been paying close attention to the effects of New Jersey Alimony Reform Act which was signed into law by Governor Chris Christie in 2014.
